Recently, someone asked me, "You wrote so much
defending Clinton, Why haven't you said hardly anything about this
Boob we have in office now". First off, picking at President
Bush would be like picking on the neighborhood Downs Syndrome kid.
The man is a tool. He has never finished anything that He has started.
Whenever, He started anything, He was bailed out by someone else,
instead of finishing it Himself. He got into the National Guard as
a favor and ran away when it seemed that He would have to actually
do something. It is very similar to the Reverend Pat Robertson getting
off the boat in Japan; instead of fighting in Korea. Are you aware
of the fact that President Bush is the only man to own a major league
baseball team and lose money. Those are just two of his exhibited
character flaws. But I am not writing this to pick at the neighborhood
retard.
What this is all about is something I heard again today. It was commentary
by an Iraqi war vet saying that what was important to him and other
fighting men in Iraq; was the man to his left and the man to his right.
I have heard this type of thing before. I have seen interviews with
young men where they want nothing more than to get healed up and get
back to their comrades in Iraq. I see parallels with this and those
I served with in Viet Nam. There were a number of men who would serve
their year and volunteer for another tour or two or even three. I
ran across a Sgt. who had been in country for two (2) years and was
ready to do another. It wasn't because he thought the cause was just;
Or that there was any real hope of winning. It was because he wanted
to help and hopefully save his buddies.
There are other skewed and similar comparisons between now and then.
They are filtered through the language and euphemisms of our times.
As example, would someone PLEASE tell me the difference between
fighting guerillas and fighting insurgents. When you get done parsing
those words. Tell me the difference between Booby Traps and IEDs.
Please tell me how the occupation of Viet Nam is different from the
occupation of Iraq. We were in Viet Nam fighting for Democracy against
Communism. Now, We are in Iraq fighting for Democracy: A beacon to
show on the world. There are all sorts of consistencies between that
war and this war. I was just curious if anyone else could see them.
