The Equal Rights Amendment

  1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.
  2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
  3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

Alice Paul wrote the Equal Rights Amendment which was introduced in Congress in 1923 and every successive year until 1972, when it passed.

Between 1972 and 1982, powerful money from some patriarchs influenced three state legislatures that were ready to ratify to vote against ratification of the 27th amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.
