Today Tinsley/Mallard
The duck is preparing his tax return

In an incredibly timely cartoon, Mallard is preparing his tax return. He's pretty stressed and that's made him so mad that he says "I'm tempted to just give up and not pay my taxes!"

Then the -duck says "I could try the Democrats' fund-raising excuse: Who cares if I'm breaking the law?... what really matters is tax reform."

First of all, let's not forget that the Republicans just shot-down all attempts at campaign-finance reform before taking-off for spring break. So don't whine that Democrats raised money just as "legally" as the Republicans. We all know about the Republican from California who is asking for his house-arrest to be lifted so that he can campaign for another term. And let's not forget the Gentleman from Georgia who "accidentally" accepted $55,000 in illegal contributions (did I mention that the Honorable Mr. Barr was a Republican? Gosh, I think I see why Mallard "forgot" too.)

And what's so funny about Tax Reform? I think it's long overdue. And even some Republicans are in favor of it. Sadly, other Republicans are in favor of just suspending the current system before they can think of a replacement, thus endangering the very republic they claim to love. But calmer heads have, thus far, prevailed and the President has forced them to suggest an alternative to the IRS before they abolish it. I hope they get off their congressional butts and do it. I would like to see a fairer tax system. But what hope do we have from a Republican grid-locked congress? They have hardly produced any significant legislation at all this term. Oh wait, they did vote to rename an airport for Ronald Reagan (but they chose one that he NEVER used and ridiculed for being poorly operated!)

Gee, Mallard. The Ronald "I'd Never Use it" Reagan Airport. That's MUCH better than Tax Reform OR Campaign Reform.

Dan, why are you picking on this dim-witted duck anyway?
