Thought for the day

April 17, 1999

Today I read that the U.S. Court of Appeals has denied a request by the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) to allow officers convicted of beating their wives or children to carry guns. The FOP thought it was unfair to prevent wife-beaters from carrying guns because that inhibits them from being police officers.

DUH! What an arrogant bunch of jerks! Anyone who is so low as to beat their wife or children would be a disgrace to any police force. If an officer is so brutal and malicious that he would abuse his (supposedly) beloved wife he would certainly not have any problem with beating someone they just arrested.

I bet that someone who was callous and vicious enough to beat their wife wouldn't hesitate to pump 41 shots into an unarmed man as he entered his apartment. Oops! I don't have any evidence that the murders in blue from New York City were wife beaters. But I think you can follow my line of thought. If you are that far out of control, the only "badge" you deserve to wear is a badge of shame. We, the law-abiding citizens of the USA, don't have any use for you in blue.

Oh, in case you were wondering why all this is new instead of two centuries old, the law was just passed in 1996 and upheld this week. Prior to this, a cop could have ANY type of conviction from child-rape to treason and still not be banned from being a cop OR carrying a gun! Oh sure, most police departments try to screen out predators like that. But apparently the Fraternal Order of Police thinks that picking on a guy just because he beats his wife is going too far. I mean jeez, if a guy has a hard day on the "thin blue line" and needs to come home and abuse his bitch, is that asking too much? YES! Send the piece of shit packing, just take his gun FIRST!
