Here's another sad note from the legal world, four L.A. policemen who shot an unconscious woman 23 times will NOT be held accountable for the murder they committed. The woman they slaughtered was Tyisha Miller and the offense she committed was to fall asleep in her car. But what must have really infuriated the cops was that she owned a handgun. It's one thing for Charlton Heston to defend the right for every citizen to own a gun, but it's quite another thing if a black person actually dares to exercise that right.
Let's recap, four cops approach a woman passed-out cold in her car. They order the unconscious woman to surrender. The woman continues to sleep peacefully (a flagrant act of disobedience, no wonder they executed her!). And the police investigation ACTUALLY CLEARS the officers. They might as well have just pulled their white hoods back on and said "that's how we keep our niggers in-line."
It seems as if police here as well as New York have taken to forming execution squads of four officers. They come up on someone who doesn't snap-to fast enough when ordered and then "defend themselves" with a hail of bullets. They have to shoot dozens of rounds because they apparently aren't very good shots. That or else the sleeping woman was moving around too much for them to get a good aim.
And just like the good old boys from Mississippi who used to lynch blacks, they walk away, scot free. Miraculously cleared of all possible wrong doing by a "careful" investigation by 31 other police officers. I wonder how many of the 31 were thinking, "If I can save these brother cops from punishment today, maybe some future cop will cover for me when I get the chance to kill a sleeping woman."
CNN had a poll today on their website asking if people feel safe when confronted by a police officer. The numbers were running about 50-50 when I cast my vote. How can we feel safe when the killers who stalk the streets wear badges and kill without fear of punishment?
