Whew, what a week! The supreme court was busy handing down judgements, killers were being put to death all across the land and (finally) Elian was sent home. I don't know where to start....
Ok, Elian Gonzales. Where in the hell do those Cuban boat people get off? That boy should have never been separated from his father. I never heard one word about the man being a bad father. The only person they thought was bad was (or is) Castro. So what? If someone took your child away to a distant land and some thin-blooded relatives claimed him or her, how would YOU feel about it? I would want my children back. Wouldn't you?
But to be told that you can't have your son back because the president of your country is an asshole? That doesn't hold any water at all. I mean really, imagine all the children WE would have had to forfeit back when Nixon was in office!
I think the boat-people made a HUGE mistake trying to tear that little boy from his father. Up until this point, most of America didn't know what sort of people they really were. We thought they were just victims of communisim, fleeing a harsh dictator for the sweet shores of America. Now, we're not so sure...
