Ironic, isn’t it? Judith Miller sits in jail for refusing to reveal which White House member revealed the top secret name of a CIA agent. Apparently, Ms. Miller needs to keep her sources anonymous in order for her to do her job. You’d think the CIA would understand that. After all, anonymous sources are exactly what they need to function. The New York Times, which Miller works for, likewise refuses to turn over its information about Miller’s White House contact. It knows that once a source’s identity becomes public, other informants disappear as well. If only the Bush Administration had trained at the Times, perhaps they would understand why the CIA requires secrecy. Miller certainly knows something about the White House ‘leak.’ I bet members of the White House hopes she protects her informant better than the Bush Administration protects the CIA operatives. New York Times flow of information remains uncompromised. As for our CIA’s ability to gather information around the world? That has been compromised. |
