Somebody Voted For Them

It is easy to ignore conspiracy theories, but I don’t know if we should. For example, during a Congressional hearing last week Michele Bachmann, a Republican representative from Minnesota raved on with a bunch of questions that I recognized as standard Second Coming code. For instance, was the American dollar going to be replaced with world currency and what about the secret bailouts of undisclosed banks.

On the other side of the aisle came equally distressing conspiracy-based rant from one of my favorite Democrats, Maxine Waters. She wanted to play Six Degrees of Separation between the Treasury and Goldman Sachs. Apparently even appearing on the same list with that company was a clue to revealing the plot.

Both of these representatives were elected by ordinary American voters. I hope their delusions about conspiracies does not reflect a majority opinion of their constituents.
