She's the Goat

There’s an old song about “Charlie Brown” that's refrain is, ‘Why’s everybody always pickin’ on me?’

Every since the election, the right wing has been using Sarah Palin as their Charlie Brown. There’s a mockumentary- oops, I mean documentary, that is one long gripe about how badly the press treated her. Greta Van Sustern uses every chance she gets to tell us how Sarah is misjudged. FOX news and their ilk use Sarah as proof that the media is bias and corrupt. But in case anyone forgot why we didn’t vote for her last November, her response to David Letterman is all we need to make us shudder at the prospect of her getting any kind of power.

Comedian David Letterman made a joke about one of Sarah’s daughters- in error, because he thought he was talking about an adult daughter, not a fourteen year old, but that is beside the point. He sort of apologized for the joke- and the story goes on too tedious to reiterate, so let me cut to the chase. Sarah acted like the second rate politician that she is, blaming all the New York and Hollywood media for Letterman’s joke and ratcheting up the discussion until it could have been a comedy script of its own- (BTW, I’m watching for it on Saturday Night Live)

Palin’s response was so lame that by day two of the scandal, I wondered what she would do if a world leader had insulted her? Someone who mattered instead of just a talk show host? Today I heard someone say ‘she isn’t ready to run for President.’ That is putting it kindly.

What I find most interesting about the incident is that the Republicans are helping her make herself look like a blabbering victim. Like Charlie Brown landing on his butt after Lucy pulled the football- again. She's a clown.
