We're getting our windows installed this morning so of course I was up at 5:30 in the morning cleaning house. No matter what window they are working on, the room beyond will look tidy. Jerry wanted to know why I bothered for people who will be busy doing things other than peeping. Why? Because I want them to think that I care enough about my house to stuff things in closets and drawers.

I like my house to be clean, but years ago we made the mistake of buying a big house. Big house, big housework, and it's corollary, big house, more place to store stuff. If we didn't give parties occasionally, I would never catch up on housework.

Although I could go on about the topic for hours, enough 'I Hate Housework' books have been written, but there is an untapped market for related topics. I am already working on a collection about Nature. The working title is Unpleasant Nature- Why We Invented Indoors.

While looking for a place to put away a decorative platter that has been collecting dust since spring, it occurred to me that books about storage solutions should all begin with the question,'Are you sure you want to use your spare time organizing stuff you probably don't need anyway?'

My storage solution book would be: Finding the Dump and it's companion guide How To Make Friends With People Who Own Pickups.

As I wiped down the bathroom counter that I painted white checks on and straightened the shelf that I installed, I thought of another book begging to be written: Home improvement unveiled, what those do it yourself projects will really look like when you're done.

Fortunately, window install is a tough enough job that we hired professionals.
