Bearing Yoga

As much as I dislike the mystic mumbo-jumbo of yoga, the gentle stretches ease the pain of my injured rotator cuff. Working out at the gym helps too, but yoga at home is more convenient, and I can do it in my pajamas.

I've always been a fan of the positive thinking credo. Thinking happy thoughts makes me happy, so in the last couple of weeks I've noticed yoga terms like 'sun greeting' and 'cleansing breath' changes my attitude also. While I have my butt in the air for a 'down dog' I'm told to be respectful of myself. In 'warrior two' position when I'm supposed to relax into a one-legged balancing stretch, just the idea of holding one foot in the air behind me makes me laugh.

Yoga has a lot of instructions about gathering inspirational motivation for the day. Gentle smile. Open your heart. So there's that.

And my arm feels better.
