I found a great book last week. Not that I knew it was any good, but I had high hopes and it lived up to them. It's called “Phantoms In The Brain” by Ramachandran, M.D., Phd. It might sound like a ghost story, but it is non-fiction about neuroscience. Easy to read- even though the guy is really known for being smart. I suppose the smarter you are, the less you try to prove it by being arcane. (That can be a little joke or not, depending on how well you know me.) He even tells some pretty funny jokes. I wonder if he can describe what part of the brain we use for jokes? Funny thing is that it was first published in hard cover. I have the paperback, but neuroscience's understanding of the brain is changing so quickly, what was the point of a hard cover? |
