Well Begun, Half Done

Today's the day I finish off all those small do it yourself projects that have been cluttering up my free time.

First up, reupholstering dining room chair seats. Technically this no is more difficult than wrapping a birthday present, but then, I always put presents in pretty bags and stuff tissue in around them. I think I can manage this anyway because it takes a staple gun instead of tape.

The trouble with projects that I only do once a decade is that I forget what materials and tools I use. I have to unscrew the seats from the frame and take them off before I can determine what to do next. After pulling out the old staples (note to self: stop using the good pair of needle nose pliers to remove salmon bones prior to cooking) I discovered that the last time I used egg carton foam, two layers of old blanket and quilt batting for padding. That saves me a trip to the store because I have four inch craft foam that will work just as well.

Half done. Cut, staple, reassemble.

The four inch foam left the seats a little less tucked and tidy than I had hoped. Maybe those lumps and bumps will get squashed out over time. I seem to be missing three screws.

Next up, replace moulding in bathroom.
