Making New Year's resolutions is my favorite thing to do. It 's an opportunity to remind myself about goals that get set aside during day to day routines. Sort things I care about from things I do out of habit. Generally take stock of what is important enough to focus on. A lot of people are derisive about New Year's resolutions just because they aren't able to follow through on them. I think that is an unfortunate way of looking at things. I count every time I follow a resolution, no matter how short lived it is. My resolutions are not about an immediate change in my life's course, only about turning toward the direction I want to go. I have a tentative list sketched out. When the dog-eared, marked-up calendar runs out of numbers, it will be finished. I'll probably post it here. But whether I do or not, I will have a list of bright, shiny goals for the coming year. I'm excited already. |
