Fast Away

Making New Year's resolutions is my favorite thing to do. It 's an opportunity to remind myself about goals that get set aside during day to day routines. Sort things I care about from things I do out of habit. Generally take stock of what is important enough to focus on.

A lot of people are derisive about New Year's resolutions just because they aren't able to follow through on them. I think that is an unfortunate way of looking at things. I count every time I follow a resolution, no matter how short lived it is. My resolutions are not about an immediate change in my life's course, only about turning toward the direction I want to go.

I have a tentative list sketched out. When the dog-eared, marked-up calendar runs out of numbers, it will be finished. I'll probably post it here. But whether I do or not, I will have a list of bright, shiny goals for the coming year. I'm excited already.
